Hello everyone!
We are here again, ready to announce a new special edition in collaboration with the LAS MANUELAS Project!
The aim of this partnership is to connect visual artists and graphic designers from around the world with the Las Manuelas community from the remote Andean highlands in southern Peru to co-create a special edition of Las Manuelas Fan Scarves, knitted by hand with the precious wool of alpaca animals. Every scarf tells a soulful story, born from the creative dialogue between the artist and the artisan. Together, they will promote a shared vision of cross-cultural exchange, modern textile art, and female empowerment in the global art and design marketplace.
THE PROCESS
We invite visual artists and graphic designers worldwide to join this meaningful mission by designing a poster that will be knitted into a fan scarf.
For this edition, we will have a special jury consisting of: ShowUsYourType, Isabel Berz, Margot Matesanz and a fashion designer (to be confirmed).
The jury will select 10 finalists and 3 final winners. The ten selected finalists will take their designs further by transforming them into textile patterns using an intuitive digital tool specially developed by the Las Manuelas Project to facilitate collaboration across distances.
The three winning artists will each receive a scarf of their own design—crafted by the women of Las Manuelas. Each scarf is a labor of love: a fully traceable journey from raw alpaca fiber to final piece. This includes fiber collection, hand-spinning, dyeing with native plants, and hand-knitting, stitch by stitch.
All finalist participants will be featured and promoted through the official ShowUsYourType and Las Manuelas Project channels (website and Instagram). Additional partnerships with media, institutions, and stores will be explored to expand communication, visibility, and commercialization of the results.

Over the years, Las Manuelas has developed a powerful collaborative design model to engage a small community of women, alpaca farmers and artisans from the remote Andean highlands of southern Peru, in connecting with an expanding international network of designers, artists, institutions, and contributors. This long-standing initiative has led to a wide range of collaborative projects, limited editions, exhibitions, and international recognitions. At its core, Las Manuelas champions ethical practices and sustainable design, preserving ancestral traditions while embracing contemporary art.
